My name is Peter Maguire and I am fairly new to cycling with just 12 months road riding experience. Having ridden in a couple of organised bike rides, I now have a burning desire to attempt an around-Australia trip and would like to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Association through sponsorship on a cents or dollars per kilometre basis.
I will be using my long service leave, accrued annual leave and maybe some leave without pay. I will also be financing the entire trip myself therefore 100% of funds raised will go to C.P. Australia. C.P. Australia have advised me that funds would go towards purchasing equipment to help individuals, families and carers Australia-wide manage on a day to day basis. Such equipment could include electric wheel chairs, walkers and lifting equipment.

I will be asking everyday Australians, industry and all kinds of businesses for sponsorship - no amount will be considered too small. Cash donations will be accepted before and during the ride.
My 15000 km cycle adventure will commence on the 1st of May 2008 and I hope will be completed in eight to ten months.

I have no idea if I will be up to the challenge of such a long ride but will never know if I don’t try!
