The last thirty kilometres of the run into perth was this gloriously smooth cycle path along the majestic indian ocean. On the day we arrived there was a stiff westerly blowing and intermitant heavy rain squals were drifting in from the sea causing us to duck for the cover of the nearest available structure. On one such occasion we were invited into the uper deck of a maritime rescue watch and radio tower and given a run down on how the volunteer rescue service operated.

In the city centre of Perth and around the water-ways and parks there are many of these beautiful bronze statues each one capturing movement,unique facial expressions and period clothing in a way that is quite breathtakingly beautiful
This is little Paris who’s picture and story I was sent almost eighteen months ago when I was considering taking on this around Australia bicycle ride, she became my inspiration for every thing that followed and meeting her on this day has made every stroke of the pedals seem worthwhile.
